Genuine gemstones are precious and should be treated with care. Gemstones such as opals and pearls are Statim-friendly. "Statim-friendly" jewelry refers to jewelry that can be safely sterilized in a Statim autoclave, a type of steam sterilizer that is gentle and can sterilize quickly. The materials used in Statim-friendly jewelry are chosen for their ability to withstand the heat and steam sterilization process without damage or chemical leaching. 

For safe and durable gemstone jewelry, consider gemstones with a high hardness on the Mohs scale (8 or higher) like diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds.

HOW TO CLEAN:
The safest bet is to soak the design in warm water and clean it with an extra soft bristle toothbrush.

Diamond and cubic zirconia designs are safe to be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner.

Avoid harsh chemicals such as lye, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, acetone, and alcohol as well as everyday chemicals as in makeup, essential oils, lotion, perfume, pool chemicals (chlorine and salt water) in order to protect soft and porous gemstones like opal, turquoise and pearls.

The same applies to gold alloy. Prolonged or repeated exposure to these chemicals can corrode gold alloy.
